District 12 of Ouagadougou Honors Top-Performing Students and Teachers in Annual Day of Excellence

Ouagadougou—The special delegation from District 12 in Ouagadougou commemorated the achievements of outstanding students and teachers during the annual Day of Excellence on Wednesday. The event was held to recognize the contributions and efforts of individuals who have excelled in the educational sphere within the district.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, Ms. Zalissa Paré/Salambéré, 59 students, including one with a disability, 45 post-primary and secondary students, 21 primary school teachers, and 17 retired teachers were honored with gifts and certificates. Bicycles and school bags were distributed to the most deserving students, while active and retired teachers received certificates of recognition.

The celebration was particularly significant as the Basic Education District (CEB) Ouaga 12 posted an impressive success rate of 82.46% in the CEP exam, exceeding their forecast of 70% and ranking third among the 12 CEBs in the commune of Ouagadougou.

For the head of the Basic Education District of Ouaga 12, the ceremony served as an opportunity for greater awareness about the importance of education. He thanked Ms. Paré for her leadership and commitment to improving educational standards in the district.

The event, now in its second edition, is set to continue in subsequent years, according to the organizers. Quoting Professor Ki-Zerbo, PDS Zalissa Paré emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for the future of societies.

Despite the ongoing security concerns in the country, District 12 is committed to sustaining and celebrating educational excellence. In a similar vein, the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, echoed that the pursuit of excellence should not be compromised due to the adverse conditions brought about by terrorism.

District 12 of Ouagadougou encompasses 43 schools, of which 11 are public and 32 are private, along with 3 middle schools and 1 high school. The ceremony was marked by colorful performances from both students and teachers.
