Chuka: A 36-year-old man was rescued after climbing a 300-foot communication mast near the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Tharaka Nithi County in a suspected suicide attempt.
According to Kenya News Agency, Tharaka Nithi Fire and Rescue Brigade Commander Alex Mugambi said his team, working jointly with police officers, managed to persuade the man to descend safely after lengthy negotiations. Mugambi emphasized the importance of communication, urging particularly men to speak out and share their struggles instead of resorting to such dangerous decisions.
Tharaka Nithi County Police Commander Zacheous Ngeno confirmed the incident, stating that the man was escorted to Chuka Level Four Hospital for medical assessment. Ngeno mentioned that the man complied after persuasion and was safely taken to the hospital for further medical attention.
