Director-General of PPPA Highlights Global Benefits of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative

ADDIS ABABA - Meseret Meskele, Director-General of the Public Procurement and Property Authority (PPPA), today emphasized the global significance of Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative. Participating in the tree planting campaign at Entoto Park in Addis Ababa, Meskele and her team joined millions of Ethiopians in the effort to set a new national record by planting 600 million seedlings in a single day.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Green Legacy Initiative transcends national borders, benefiting not just Ethiopia but the global community by mitigating climate change and fostering a healthy environment. "The Green Legacy Initiative is of paramount importance to the world at large," she stated. She highlighted the initiative's role in promoting a positive global image for Ethiopia, enhancing agro-ecology, and supporting tourism development. Meskele further noted that the initiative's extensive planting efforts contribute significantly to reducing air pollution and developing a sustainable economy, with the country witnessing a remarkable increase in forest coverage over the past five years.
