Moscow: Direct contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will be established if necessary, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Peskov emphasized the effectiveness of high-level discussions in resolving issues that might surface at various working or expert levels. He stated that if the situation calls for it, direct communication between Putin and Trump will be initiated. This announcement was made during Peskov's address at the Znanie (Knowledge) education forum, which was held on the sidelines of the Russian-hosted World Youth Festival.

Peskov also mentioned that channels for dialogue between Russia and the United States have been restored, underscoring the importance of maintaining open lines of communication between the two nations.
