Diela Traoré Appointed as New Provincial Director of Culture in Comoé


BANFORA – In a formal ceremony held on February 5, 2024, Diela Traoré was officially installed as the Provincial Director of Culture, Arts, and Tourism of Comoé province. The event, overseen by the High Commissioner of the province, Idrissa Hamidou Massa, marked the beginning of Traoré’s tenure in a role crucial for the promotion and preservation of the region’s cultural and tourism sectors.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Diela Traoré, previously serving as the Head of the Protection and Promotion of Tourist and Cultural Heritage Department at the regional directorate responsible for Cascades culture, brings a wealth of experience to her new position. With a background as an advisor to tourist and hotel services, Traoré’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to further enhance the cultural and tourist landscape of Comoé and its surrounding areas.



In her acceptance speech, Traoré expressed deep gratitude to Burkina Faso’s highest authorities for entrusting her with this significant responsibility. She pledged her commitment to continue the work initiated by her predecessor, aiming to elevate the visibility and appreciation of Comoé’s cultural and tourist heritage, with a particular focus on the region’s waterfalls.



Traoré succeeds Blagnima Ouattara, who led the department for over seven years with notable achievements. Ouattara, in his farewell remarks, thanked the provincial authorities and his team for their support, highlighting the collaborative efforts with cultural actors, provincial advisors, and local associations that contributed to the department’s successes.



High Commissioner Idrissa Hamidou Massa lauded Ouattara for his dedication and significant contributions to Comoé’s cultural sector. Massa also extended a warm welcome to Traoré, assuring her of the full support of the provincial authorities and expressing optimism for the future of culture, arts, and tourism in Comoé under her leadership.
