Tapoa: The Diapaga municipal special delegation organized its first accountability session on Friday, October 17, 2025. This inaugural meeting since its establishment provided an opportunity for Prefect Simeon Toe and his municipal team to present the results of the economic and financial management of the past year to the city’s key stakeholders.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the achievements of the municipality, along with the contributions from technical and financial partners and the state, were thoroughly reviewed. Prefect Simeon Toe highlighted that civil status services were highly demanded during 2024, and despite staffing challenges, administrative documents were issued within the required timeframe. The water and sanitation sector saw significant development, with the construction of nearly twenty boreholes in the town of Diapaga.
The security situation, however, posed significant challenges, leading to the paralysis of several local economic activities. Despite these difficulties, non-state actors, including NGOs and various projects, executed numerous activities in 2024 in the areas of health, education, water, hygiene, and sanitation. Through these collaborative efforts, the municipality managed to achieve nearly 60% of its planned activities for the 2024 financial year.
The year’s accomplishments were categorized into three primary areas: human capital development, strengthening of local governance, and revitalization of economic and employment-driving sectors. Under human capital development, several infrastructure projects were completed, such as the construction of classrooms at Diapaga’s D and C schools, the rehabilitation of the morgue, and the acquisition of medical-technical equipment for the urban CSPS from the mining fund.
In local governance, the town hall facilitated training sessions for special delegates on mobilizing local resources and preparing the municipal budget, while enhancing the logistical operations of the municipal administration. For economic sector revitalization, efforts included the construction of street shops to bolster local entrepreneurship.
The financial overview revealed a budget forecast of 142,199,923 CFA francs, with actual achievements for 2024 amounting to 97,329,326 CFA francs. This included 80,827,653 CFA francs from the municipality’s own revenue and 68,299,347 CFA francs from the provincial tax service, leading to an overall execution rate of 68.45% for the 2024 financial year.
