Tapoa: The Diapaga Basic Education District (CEB) recognized the achievements of 20 students and 40 teachers during a day of academic excellence at the Diapaga Center B school.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this event, held on March 22, marked the second such occasion following a successful inaugural event in 2024. The theme, "Ensuring educational continuity in the context of a security and humanitarian crisis: an act of patriotism and resilience in the face of terrorism," highlighted the challenges faced by the education sector due to growing insecurity and humanitarian issues, such as food and basic necessities shortages.
Fran§ois d'Assise Gnoula, Head of the Diapaga Diassibo CEB, explained that the event aimed to foster a competitive spirit within the educational community. He emphasized that education remains a top priority, aligning with the President of Burkina Faso's focus on human capital development as a key driver of national progress.
Awards distributed during the event included six bicycles, school kits, three smartphones, two tablets, and certificates of recognition. Yonli Bendi Gildas, a 12-year-old student from Moridini school, secured first place with an impressive average of 9.06 out of 10 at the 2024 CEP, earning a bicycle and school kit.
Lamoudi KI from the Center B school in Diapaga achieved a 100% success rate with 40 candidates at the 2024 CEP, earning him the best teacher award, a tablet, and a Certificate of Recognition. Elisabeth Tankoano from Eben-Ezer school was also recognized for her school's 83.33% success rate at the CEP, receiving a tablet and certificate.
Despite the challenges, the Diapaga CEB achieved an 85.23% success rate for the 2023-2024 school year, ranking it among the top CEBs in the region. Soali Ouali, the first vice president of the special delegation, praised the resilience of the stakeholders and reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to supporting the Diapaga CEB in achieving educational goals.
Lieutenant Fousseni Ouattara, the company commander of the Diapaga Gendarmerie and representative of the event sponsor, encouraged the awardees to continue their efforts and serve as inspirations for their peers. He highlighted the importance of recognizing academic success alongside sports achievements.
The celebration served as a reminder of the need to acknowledge and reward academic efforts, reinforcing the value of education in overcoming adversity.
