Baku: The Community Protection Committee (CCP) of the commune of Tenkodogo organized a public conference on Tuesday focused on the peaceful resolution of conflicts and reconciliation, aiming to raise awareness among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities about promoting peace and coexistence. The meeting brought together members of host communities, IDPs, administrative authorities, and community actors engaged in social protection.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Urbain T. This project aims to strengthen the protection of vulnerable populations. Mr. Zongo explained that the CCP is a community monitoring framework responsible for identifying people in need of protection and facilitating their referral to the relevant state technical services.

He emphasized that the Committee plays a vital role in reinforcing community protection. It strives to promote peace, social cohesion, inclusion, and economic, social, and cultural development, while combating exclusion and discrimination. According to its institutional presentation, the CCP bases its actions on values such as integrity, dignity, solidarity, dialogue, public interest, and good governance. It specifically intervenes in consolidating national sovereignty, promoting African values, supporting vulnerable people, entrepreneurship, inclusive education, as well as promoting gender equality and combating gender-based violence (GBV).

Harouna Korgho, the CCP's mobilization focal point, highlighted that the objective of this conference was to inspire and raise awareness among IDPs and host populations about the significance of peace in their daily lives. "We also presented the Community Protection Committee and invited participants to urgently strengthen social cohesion and living together," he said.

The provincial director of Family and National Solidarity of Boulgou, Abdoulaye Soro, the main speaker, delivered a presentation on the theme: "Peaceful resolution of conflicts and reconciliation". His presentation covered the concepts of war, conflict, peace, and citizenship; the main causes of conflict in Burkina Faso; the foundations of social cohesion; peaceful mechanisms for dispute resolution; and the moral values that promote reconciliation. He underscored the necessity of prioritizing dialogue, listening, tolerance, and prevention to sustainably maintain peace within communities.

The meeting also provided a platform for participants to share their experiences and identify avenues for action that could strengthen solidarity between IDPs and host communities.

On the sidelines of the conference, the CCP presented five sewing machines to five women who had completed their training in pattern making and sewing. According to the committee officials, this gesture aims to promote their economic empowerment and socio-professional integration, ensuring resilience and social cohesion. Through this initiative, the Community Protection Committee and its partners aim to consolidate community mechanisms for conflict prevention to make social cohesion a sustainable lever for peace and development in the commune of Tenkodogo.
