DGI Promotes Tax Citizenship at 34th International Tour du Faso

Koudougou, The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) has established its presence at the 34th International Tour of Faso, utilizing the event as a platform to enhance awareness of tax citizenship across various communities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Central-West regional tax director, the DGI’s participation in the Tour du Faso is a consistent effort, noting that “At several editions, the DGI was there. This is an opportunity for her to be able to raise awareness among populations, youth, athletes, about tax citizenship in particular.” The DGI extends its support to the event by sponsoring the scarf awarded to the best young Burkinabè rider, a move justified by Zongo as a reflection of the DGI’s commitment to optimal revenue recovery to aid the transition period in Burkina Faso. He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of entrepreneurship among dynamic economic players to contribute to public expenditure resources.

Zongo highlighted the significance of collective mobilization in Burkina Faso’s current challenging security context, underscoring the necessity for all citizens to participate in national development and support the fight against terrorism. He elaborated on the critical role of resource mobilization in equipping those on the frontlines and meeting the extensive needs of combat operations.

The DGI’s campaign encompasses the 10 stages of the 34th Tour du Faso, themed “resilience,” aiming to instill a sense of civic responsibility in relation to tax payments among the Burkinabè populations. The competition spans across 7 regions of Burkina Faso, fostering a widespread awareness campaign.

During the 6th stage of the Tour du Faso, contested on Wednesday, November 1, between Ouagadougou and Koudougou, spanning 120.6 kilometers, Saturnin Yaméogo clinched the DGI sash for the best Burkinabè rider.

The Tour du Faso 2023 is scheduled to run from October 26 to November 5.
