Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Fragogiannis, will travel to Kavala tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1st, together with the leadership of American aviation company Erickson, to explore the possibility of a major investment of the company in the region.
Minister of National Defence Nikos Panagiotopoulos will also be in Kavala to participate at the relevant discussions, which will continue in Athens, during the stay of Erickson’s CEO Douglas L. Kitani and the company’s Vice President Ryan Perkins in Greece, till Friday March 3rd.
During their visit to Kavala, the Ministers and the American interested investors will visit the military airport of Amygdalonas, which has been proposed by the Greek government as a suitable site for the development of the firefighting helicopter assembly, maintenance and repair center that Erickson wishes to establish in the broader region of South Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
The idea of the company’s investment in Greece was initially discussed during Mr. Fragkogiannis’ visit to the US last November. With their presence in Greece and the on-site visit to Amygdalonas, the US investors confirm the company’s active interest in the realization of the investment.
It is noted that Erickson is an aerospace industry and aviation services provider, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA. It was founded in 1971 and has since become a prominent and innovative global leader in the field of aerial firefighting.
