Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Fragogiannis and Secretary General Ioannis Smyrlis’ working visit to San Francisco (4-11.11.2022)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Fragogiannis, departed today, Friday, November 4, 2022, for San Francisco, US where he will stay until the 11th of this month, heading a delegation of government officials and representatives of start-up companies.

Mr. Fragogiannis is joined by Deputy Minister of Development and Investments for Research and Technology, Christos Dimas, as well as Secretary-General for International Economic Affairs and Openness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and President of Enterprise Greece Ioannis Smyrlis. Together with the government delegation, 12 representatives/founders of Greek start-up companies – members of Elevate Greece – are also travelling to San Francisco.

The goal of the trip is to promote the extroversion of the Greek innovation ecosystem and to strengthen contacts with prominent Greeks and Diaspora scientists, academics, and entrepreneurs operating in the US and especially in California’s Silicon Valley. It is also to present and promote to the local business community the favourable conditions that have now been created in Greece in order to attract even more investment in the research/technology/innovation sector.

Deputy Ministers Fragogiannis and Dimas, together with the whole delegation will have several meetings with scientists/academics at Stanford, Berkeley, and USF Universities, with entrepreneurs and senior executives of high-tech companies, with representatives of national investment and innovation promotion agencies operating in the US, as well as with state officials.
