Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Fragogiannis, and the Secretary-General for International Economic Affairs and Openness, Vicky Loizou, will travel to Tokyo on January 28, accompanying a business delegation, headed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to be visiting the Japanese capital on 29-31 January.

The aim of the mission is to upgrade bilateral economic relations between Greece and Japan and to attract investment, through contacts at government level and by strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ business communities.

To this end, a series of B2B meetings between representatives from 19 leading Greek enterprises participating in the missions and representatives from respective Japanese enterprises, with a focus on the energy/renewable resources, high technology, and shipping sectors have been scheduled for Monday, January 30.

In addition, on Tuesday, January 31, a Greek-Japanese Business Forum will be held, co-organized by the Greek Embassy in Tokyo, Enterprise Greece, and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

In the context of the Business Forum, Ms. Loizou, as President of Enterprise Greece, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with JETRO, laying the foundation for more regular and systematic cooperation and exchange of know-how between the two sides. In the same vein, a Memorandum of Understanding will also be signed during the visit between the Hellenic Export Credit Corporation SA, ECG, and its Japanese counterpart NEXI.

While in the Japanese capital, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, K. Fragogiannis, and the Secretary-General, Ms. Loizou, will accompany the Prime Minister in his meetings with government officials. In addition, they will have a working meeting with the Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kenji YAMADA, as well as with Japanese entrepreneurs and investors, and they will visit the premises of the Japanese Business Association KEIDANREN.

It is noted that the Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources Alexandra Sdoukou will also join the delegation, accompanied by institutional representatives, the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sophia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou and the CEO of SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, Dimitris Papalexopoulos.
