In his capacities as Deputy Minister for the Greeks of Diaspora, Mr. Konstantinos Vlasis has been visiting Ukraine since yesterday, August 29, where he will hold a series of meetings with members of the Greek societies and organizations, the academic and educational community, Church representatives, entrepreneurs and elected representatives of the Ukrainian local administration.
Upon his arrival in Kiev yesterday, Mr. Vlasis met with representatives of the Greek community and Hellenists of the city, while today he is travelling to Mariupol, where he will visit villages with strong presence of the Greek community. As part of his tour in the region of Mariupol, Mr. Vlasis will meet with leaders and members of historic Greek communities and associations, as well as with representatives of the local government. Moreover, he will visit the University of Mariupol and Greek schools operating in the area.
In the second part of his visit to Ukraine, the Deputy Minister will travel to Odessa where he will represent the Hellenic Republic in the celebrations marking the 227th anniversary of the founding of the City of Odessa. He will also hold consecutive meetings with leaders and members of Greek institutions, representatives of teachers seconded from Greece, and finally, he will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Museum of Filiki Etairia, the Greek Park and the Center for the Modern Greek language, at Mechnikov University.
