Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andreas Katsaniotis, had a courtesy meeting with the new Ambassador of Mexico Alejandro, García Moreno Elizondo, today, March 29. During the meeting, which was held in a cordial atmosphere, the two sides confirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations and discussed ways to further enhance their cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
After congratulating the Mexican Ambassador on his recent assumption of his duties, the Deputy Minister highlighted the long-standing ties of friendship and mutual respect that link the two countries, which he personally witnessed during his trip to Mexico in 2021 on the occasion of the commemorative events marking the 200th anniversary of Greece’s War of Independence. The discussion focused on the Greek presence in Mexico and its active role in economic, social, and cultural life, as well as on the presence of the small but dynamic Mexican community in Greece. Particular reference was made to the multifaceted actions and work of the Holy Metropolis of Mexico and Central America under the guidance of His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras.
