The common challenges faced by Greece, Cyprus, and Armenia as well as the need to further strengthen the historical and cultural ties of the three countries were discussed during a Trilateral Meeting held in Yerevan, Armenia, by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andreas Katsaniotis, the Cyprus Presidency Commissioner for Humanitarian and Overseas Cypriots, Fotis Fotiou, and the Armenian High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan.

The trilateral meeting is part of the initiatives agreed upon by the three sides in June 2022 in Greece following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which aims at further strengthening trilateral cooperation on Diaspora issues.
In addition, they discussed and decided on joint activities and events in countries where the three states have strong Diaspora communities, such as the US, France, the UK, and Australia, focusing in particular on younger generations, as they constitute the Diasporas’ future.

Mr. Katsaniotis also referred to a Photography Exhibition to be held in Cyprus next month, highlighting the three countries’ national tragedies in the 20th century, namely: the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the Pontic genocide, and the Armenian genocide.
Lastly, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked Mr. Sinanyan for his invitation and hospitality. Mr. Katsaniotis is on an official visit to Armenia to attend the Global Armenian Summit being held in Yerevan.
