The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation to launch a 4IR micro-laboratory at Goldsfields TVET college in Welkom

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela will launch a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Micro-Laboratory at Goldfields TVET College on the 10th November 2022 in Welkom, Free State.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), also known as Industry 4.0 is upon us. Today, 4IR advancements are more accessible and less expensive than only a few years ago.

The 4IR is more than just technology as it gradually shapes how we live, work and even play.

It ushers in an experience revolution and has significantly impacted the TVET sector in terms of teaching and learning.

The Department of Higher Education and Training in Collaboration with the ETDP Seta will launch the 4IR Centre at Goldfields TVET College. The College is among the 10 Public TVET Colleges in the country identified to establish the 4IR Centre. The Centre will specialise in Cyber Security and Cloud Computing.

The Centre will be officially unveiled by the Honourable Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela.

He will be joined by the MEC for Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) in the Free State, Mr Makalo Mohale.
