Defense Minister Reaffirms Angola’s Commitment to CPLP Peace and Security

Dili: The Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans, Lucio do Amaral, reaffirmed on Tuesday in the Timorese capital, Dili, Angola's commitment to peace, collective security, and multilateral cooperation within the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release from the defense ministry to which ANGOP had access on Thursday, the statement was made during the 25th Meeting of Ministers of National Defense of the CPLP. Lucio do Amaral highlighted the importance of the CPLP in transforming the shared Portuguese language into a common defense and security strategy, reaffirming Angola's role in promoting regional stability and enhancing the interoperability of the armed forces of member states.

The event held under the theme 'Together for cooperation within the CPLP and strengthening the role of the armed forces in consolidating the democratic rule of law', was preceded by the 22nd Meeting of Defence Policy Directors of the Community. Angola's participation in the 25th Meeting of CPLP Defense Ministers reaffirms its active role in building a more cohesive and united Community, prepared to face today's strategic challenges.
