Dedougou: The Dedougou Provincial Multipurpose High School (LPPD) has emerged victorious in the inaugural "Green Mast Space" competition, which concluded on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Dedougou. The event's results were announced during a flag-raising ceremony presided over by the High Commissioner of the Mouhoun Province, Bassouleymane Ouattara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition was initiated by the provincial directorate responsible for Secondary Education in Mouhoun. It was designed to foster patriotism, civic-mindedness, and environmental awareness in educational institutions. The competition's objective was to strengthen students' connection to national symbols, promote environmental culture through practical actions, and encourage community involvement in maintaining and beautifying flagpole areas.
A total of 23 establishments from various departments within Mouhoun province participated in this first edition. Participants were evaluated based on criteria such as adherence to patriotic values, the quality of constructed facilities, and site cleanliness. The jury, led by Christine Ganou/Yaro, visited multiple localities, including Bondokuy, Tcheriba, Kona, Ouarkoye, and Safane, to assess the achievements of the competing institutions.
Ganou/Yaro acknowledged the efforts of those involved in the education system, despite challenges such as water shortages, insufficient protective fencing, and limited time for project completion.
The Dedougou Provincial Multipurpose High School clinched first place due to its exemplary flagpole area improvements. The school was awarded a certificate of recognition, a national flag, a wheelbarrow, watering cans, and a multifunction printer. Arouna Ouedraogo, the school's principal, expressed satisfaction on behalf of the entire educational community, highlighting the collective effort of students, teachers, administration, and the school board.

Addressing the challenges identified by the jury, she mentioned that palliative solutions have been proposed to the concerned establishments. Raoul Sanon, representing the Chief of the canton of Dedougou and the ceremony's sponsor, lauded the initiative for instilling civic, citizen, and environmental values in young learners.
