Deceased Truck Drivers in Collision Outside Kalkfeld Identified

Kalkfeld: The two truck drivers who died in a collision Saturday morning on the Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld road have been positively identified by relatives. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, confirmed the identities of the drivers as 29-year-old John Jao and 46-year-old Fillemon Gabriel.

According to Namibia Press Agency, both drivers died instantly after their trucks collided head-on. Gabriel was driving the Scania truck, and Jao was in the Volvo truck involved in the accident. The incident occurred around 05h30, approximately 18 kilometers north of Kalkfeld settlement. The Scania truck was traveling from the direction of Otjiwarongo, while the Volvo was headed in the opposite direction.

The Volvo truck had three occupants, including Jao. Two survivors, aged 18 and 20 years, were treated at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for minor injuries and were discharged on the same day. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
