Windhoek: Namibia’s senior national netball team, the Debmarine Desert Jewels, will be participating in the inaugural United Arab Emirates (UAE) Netball Cup taking place from 15 to 21 June 2025. This will be the national team’s first international competition for the year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Netball Namibia (NN) noted in a press statement on Monday that Namibia’s participation in the UAE tournament in Dubai marks a significant step in the team’s pursuit of international recognition. The tournament forms part of the official ranking calendar and represents a crucial milestone in Namibia’s journey toward international netball excellence. The team’s participation in the event is a testament to their commitment, growth, and the strong support from sponsors, stakeholders, and the Namibian netball community at large.
The statement added that to honour the team’s achievements and boost their morale ahead of departure, the federation will host a send-off ceremony on 10 June at the Namibia Sports Com
mission in Windhoek. The tournament is an opportunity for the players to shine on the global stage and earn valuable ranking points. Netball Namibia expressed confidence that the Debmarine Jewels will make Namibia proud, emphasizing the power of sports to unite and inspire.
