Bandar Abbas: The death toll from the explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas has risen to 18, with more than 800 people injured, according to the Director General of Crisis Management in the Iranian province of Hormozgan, Mehrdad Hassan Zadeh.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the IRIB broadcaster quoted Zadeh as stating, “Unfortunately, by now the death toll has risen to 18, and the number of injured exceeds 800 people.” The explosion has raised concerns about safety measures and the handling of hazardous materials at the port.

The incident occurred on Saturday when a large blast rocked the port in the southern Iranian city. The IRNA news agency initially reported that the explosion was caused by improperly stored chemicals, which led to the devastating impact on the surrounding area and its residents.
