PS - A tragic road accident in PS has resulted in 10 fatalities and 16 serious injuries, as confirmed on Sunday evening. The collision, which involved two human transport vehicles, took place on Saturday, leaving a total of 35 victims.
According to the Burkina Information Agency, the initial death toll increased following the incident. Initially, six people were reported dead at the scene. Later, three more succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the PS public infirmary and the Boromo medical center. Another victim died this morning, as reported by health authorities.
The accident occurred when a bus belonging to a transport company, departing from PS station en route to Bobo Dioulasso, collided with a minibus traveling in the opposite direction. In response to this catastrophe, the government has announced the initiation of investigations to ascertain the cause and determine responsibility. Furthermore, it has urged passenger transport company owners to adhere to the legal requirement of installing speed limiters on all vehicles in their fleets.
This incident mirrors a similar tragedy that occurred in May 2016 on the same road, near the same area, which resulted in 24 deaths and 36 injuries.
