Kimberley – A 39-year-old male prison warder employed at De Aar Correctional Services was arrested on Sunday, 29 October 2023, for allegedly smuggling drugs into the prison.

According to South Africa Police Service, the arrest was made while the suspect was en route to work, and he was found to be in possession of dagga, tik, and cash.

The suspect is set to appear in the De Aar Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 31 October 2023. Major General Nomana Mtukushe, the Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, commended the officers for their prompt action and encouraged community members to remain vigilant and report criminal activities to the police.
