Dano Set to Launch Provincial Vocational Training Center Targeting Rural Mechanics and Metal Construction

DANO – Officials and community leaders convened on Thursday to plan the activation of the Dano Provincial Vocational Training Center (CPFP) for the upcoming school year, aiming to enhance local skills development in Ioba province. The center, established in 2012 but inactive since, is expected to start operations with specialized training in rural mechanics and metal construction.

According to Burkina Information Agency, technical advisor to the general director of Burkina Suudu Bawdè (BSB), the initiative seeks to furnish the community with vital skills to spur development. The meeting, chaired by the High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Bernadette Adenyo / Sermé, brought together local authorities, youth organizations, and professionals to deliberate on the operationalization of the center. Key outcomes included actionable proposals and a timeline for revitalizing the facility, which has been equipped for three specific training courses since its inception.

The focus for the inaugural year will be on two of the three available disciplines, each capable of accommodating up to 30 learners. The curriculum spans one to two years, depending on the sector, with a training fee set at 35,000 FCFA. Among the urgent pre-operational needs identified were the repair of the center’s infrastructure, and the provision of essential utilities like electricity and water. The stakeholders also stressed the importance of security measures, including land registration and fencing of the premises.

The meeting underscored the community’s anticipation for the center’s contribution to the employability of its youth. High Commissioner Adenyo emphasized the importance of overcoming past challenges and leveraging communication to ensure widespread awareness within the province. The regional director in charge of youth in the southwest, Dendéol Imnazy Somda, and BSB’s inter-regional director 2, Bakary Millogo, also affirmed their commitment to the project’s success, encouraging local engagement and support for the forthcoming academic offerings.
