Dano Celebrates ‘Dakolé A’ School’s Triumph in CEB Football Final


DANO — The Basic Education District (CEB) of Dano concluded its series of sporting and cultural events with ‘Dakolé A’ school claiming the football trophy on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This event, held at the ‘Dakolé A’ school’s field, was the highlight of the 48-hour festivities that brought together the educational community, students, parents, and local authorities.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the final football match against ‘Yabogane’ school concluded with a penalty shootout, where ‘Dakolé A’ emerged victorious with a score of 3-1, following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time. The winning team received jerseys, a football, 25,000 FCFA, and the championship trophy, while the top four teams were all awarded prizes.



The festivities began with cultural competitions on Friday, May 17, at the Dano Women’s Museum, featuring events in archery, drama, recital, folk choir, and traditional dagara dance, with the top three schools in each category also receiving awards. The events, organized under the theme ‘Sport, culture and leisure, factors of social cohesion and resilience between communities’, were overseen by the organization of sport, culture, and leisure in primary schools (OSCLEP).



The cultural celebration also included a commitment to the ‘one school, one cultural troupe’ initiative for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, aiming to foster a robust cultural identity among students. The local authorities and community leaders expressed their support for these initiatives, highlighting the importance of cultural education in building social cohesion.
