DAKOLA — The new provisional registration counter for motor vehicles was officially inaugurated in Dakola, Nahouri province, on Friday, July 20, 2024. Governor Yvette Nacoulma of the Center-South region presided over the ceremony, marking a significant enhancement in vehicle registration protocols at the Dakola customs post on the Burkina-Ghana border.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of Land and Maritime Transport, the establishment of this counter is part of a broader initiative to bolster security and regulatory compliance across the region. This new facility is the third of its kind, following similar setups in Ouagadougou and Cinkansé. “Riding an unregistered machine is a danger to yourself. Normally, according to the texts, you should not travel with a motorcycle if it is not registered,” Tougri emphasized, highlighting the risks associated with unregistered vehicles.
The counter will handle registrations for the 'W' and 'WW' series. The 'W' series is designated for vehicles held by dealers, manufacturers, and sellers, providing a one-year validation for a fee of 50,000 CFA francs. Meanwhile, the 'WW' series caters to new or imported second-hand motor vehicles and motorcycles intended for use within Burkina Faso, with registration costs set at 9,500 FCFA for two to three-wheel vehicles and 12,500 FCFA for four-wheel vehicles.
The technology implemented by Supernet Technology Holding, the concessionaire for provisional registrations, ensures efficient service delivery, enabling vehicle owners to obtain their provisional registration in less than ten minutes. This system is designed to offer peace of mind to vehicle owners while they await their permanent registration within a maximum period of 60 days.
Governor Nacoulma highlighted the registration system's role in reducing malpractices in the transport sector and enhancing road safety. "This solution allows the administration and control forces to verify in real time the identity of a vehicle, even newly acquired, and its owner for better monitoring of the vehicles circulating on our roads," she stated.
The event was also attended by Illasa Dianda, President of the Special Delegation of the Commune of Pô, who expressed gratitude for the focus on improving vehicle management and safety in Nahouri. He invited all citizens to comply with the new registration requirements to help make the roads safer for everyone.
