Cuvango: The municipal administrator of Cuvango, Luis Paulo Ndala, expressed on Monday that the municipality aims to become the main agricultural and continental fishing hub of the Huila province. With over 300,000 hectares available for agriculture and two permanent watercourses, the Cubango and Cutato rivers, extending for more than 170 kilometers, Cuvango has attracted the interest of investors in these sectors in recent years. According to Angola Press News Agency, actions aimed at increasing agricultural production and promoting continental fishing have been implemented for two years through direct support to farmers and fishermen, as well as reduced bureaucracy in access to land. Luís Paulo Ndala highlighted the municipality's natural potential, including arable land and water resources, which, when combined with appropriate public policies, place it in a privileged position in the province's productive sector. The administrator noted that a process is currently underway to organize producers into coo peratives, alongside improvements to production support infrastructure. These efforts aim to facilitate the flow of products and attract private investment. Located 356 kilometers east of Lubango, the capital of Huíla province, Cuvango has cultivated more than 3,000 hectares in the current agricultural year, with 800 hectares exclusively dedicated to cereals.
