Kourweogo: The cultural caravan 'Tond ba-yir saoos©,' initiated by the Nafadou company in collaboration with the Delwend© Community Development Association (ADC Delwend©), was launched on Friday, April 24, 2026, in Bouss©. The initiative aims to promote and document the authentic traditional dances of the Kourw©ogo province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was placed under the patronage of the Minister in charge of Culture, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo and sponsored by El Hadji Moustapha Souli. The ceremony saw the presence of administrative and customary authorities as well as partners. The project benefits from financial support from the Burkinabe Fund for Economic and Social Development (FBDES T´ogo) and Swiss cooperation.
For this first stage, the people of Bouss© had the opportunity to witness performances by several artistic troupes from different localities. In total, around ten groups showcased local dances, including the warba, the faongo, the yarma, the taonsr©, the k¨gba, the wiss©, and the k¨ma.
According to the initiator of the caravan, S©kou Oumar Sidib©, known as "Commissioner Rock," the activity is part of a project to promote and document the intangible cultural heritage of Kourw©ogo through audiovisual means. He specified that the municipalities of Laye, Sourgoubila, and Bouss© were chosen to host this first edition.
The speakers at the event emphasized the relevance of the initiative in a context marked by the growing influence of modern cultures. The Secretary General of the region, Ibrahim Boly, representing the Minister in charge of Culture, highlighted that culture and tradition are essential pillars of the identity of peoples and contribute to social cohesion and peace consolidation.
El Hadji Moustapha Souli, the patron of the event, expressed his support for any action aimed at promoting the national cultural heritage, encouraging young people to embrace these values. Traditional authorities, through Naaba Sonr©, also praised the initiative, seeing it as a contribution to preserving ancestral values. They expressed a wish for future editions to be open to all troupes in the province.
