Cuba and Algeria to strengthen bilateral cooperation

ALGIERS, Dec 16 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab met here to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, diplomatic sources reported.

During the meeting, the top officials and the delegations accompanying them highlighted the historic relations between the two nations, which this year commemorated their 60th anniversary, and exchanged viewpoints on cooperation in the fields of power generation, hydrocarbons, renewable energy, and mining, among others.

According to the report, the meeting is part of the working agenda of Cabrisas, who is visiting Algeria as the head of a technical governmental delegation, which also includes the Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la O Levy and other officials.

Executives and experts from both agencies analyzed the working strategy to implement the collaboration actions agreed upon during the recent visit to Algeria of President Miguel Diaz-Canel and in talks with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Cuban deputy prime minister also met with Algerian Finance Minister Brahim Djamel Kassali.

After Diaz-Canel’s visit here, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that it marked a milestone in the development of mutual relations, and described the trip as excellent, intense and fruitful.

The foreign minister also highlighted the understanding that exists regarding ‘the heroic struggle of our people amid difficulties and a feeling of deep gratitude for Cuba’s cooperation in the field of health care, which began in 1963 and has lasted until today.’
