Ouagadougou – The Superior Council of Communication (CSC) in Burkina Faso is setting a precedent for the promotion of traditional clothing within its operations. On Monday, CSC President Idrissa Ouédraogo, alongside council advisors and administrative staff, convened an extraordinary general assembly to formalize the initiative. A special committee was established to outline necessary behaviors and actions to reinforce the use of traditional garments like faso dan fani and koko dunda among CSC members.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the move is part of a broader effort to foster Burkinabe cultural identity and stimulate economic activity through national fabric promotion. This initiative aligns with a presidential decree from June 2023 that mandates public officials to wear traditional attire during select official ceremonies as a means to bolster socio-economic development in Burkina Faso.
