CS Ogamba Releases KCSE 2025 Results

Eldoret: Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination results, which have seen improvement in direct university qualification.

According to Kenya News Agency, the number of candidates with direct university entry qualification of mean grade C+ and above was 270,715 (27.18 percent) in the year 2025 KCSE examination. This is an improvement compared to 246,391 (25.53 percent) in 2024. Ogamba expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their dedication in preparing the KCSE candidates and ensuring the smooth administration of the national examinations, which has maintained the credibility of the examination system and upheld high standards in the education sector.

The CS announced the results at A.I.C. Chebisaas Boys Secondary School, Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, highlighting that examination and assessment are crucial to the education system, guiding the nation's future. He noted that 993,226 candidates sat for the 2025 KCSE examination, marking an increase of 30,714 candidates from the previous year. Of these, 492,012 were male, and 501,214 were female, representing 49.54 and 50.46 percent of the total candidature, respectively. This marks the second consecutive year with more female candidates than male candidates.

In terms of overall performance, 1,932 candidates obtained an overall mean grade of A (plain) in 2025, an improvement from 1,693 candidates in 2024. Additionally, the number of candidates with grade C- (minus) and above was 507,131 (50.92 percent) in 2025 compared to 476,889 (49.41 percent) in 2024. Candidates who attained a pass grade (grade D+ and above) numbered 634,082 (63.67 percent) in 2025, compared to 605,774 (62.76 percent) in 2024.

National schools produced the highest number of candidates with an overall mean grade of A, followed by Extra County schools and Private Schools. Sub-county schools had more candidates in the category of C+ and above compared to county schools.

The CS reiterated the government's commitment to examination integrity, noting that 1,180 candidates were involved in irregularities, resulting in the cancellation of their examination results. Examination results can be accessed online through the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) website. The results were made accessible immediately following the announcement.
