Eldoret: Investment trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui has commended the county Government of Uasin Gishu for its commitment towards establishing Export Processing Zones (EPZA’s) and the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIP).

According to Kenya News Agency, the CS highlighted that the government has prioritized 13 CAIPs out of the 18 being constructed across the country, placing Uasin Gishu 4th in terms of construction progress among the prioritized projects. The government is also constructing four EPZ’s in Eldoret (Uasin Gishu County), Muranga, Kirinyaga, and Busia.

The CAIPs are a collaborative effort between the National and county governments, with each contributing Sh250 million and the county providing land for the projects. ‘An assessment of the two projects in the county shows they are within the expected timelines, and in the next one to two months the two projects, (EPZ in Cherunya area, in Kapseret and CAIP in Moiben) will be complete,’ stated the CS.

Speaking in Eldoret during a familiarization tour of national government projects, Mr. Kinyanjui noted that Uasin Gishu county is poised to become a significant industrial hub for both Kenya and the East African region. This potential is bolstered by existing infrastructure such as the Eldoret International Airport, regional road and railway connections, as well as the presence of Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) regional offices. ‘With the infrastructure and business facilitative environment created by the government, Uasin Gishu is fit to be an industrial park within Kenya and the East African region,’ he added.
