Beijing: The Communist Party of China (CPC) had more than 100.27 million members at the end of 2024, marking an increase of nearly 1.09 million from the previous year, according to a report issued Monday ahead of the Party’s 104th founding anniversary. The report highlighted the Party’s growth and the strengthening of its primary-level organizations.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the membership of the CPC has steadily expanded, with its structure continuing to improve. The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee released a report indicating that the CPC had 5.25 million primary-level organizations at the end of 2024, reflecting an increase of 74,000 compared with the previous year.
The CPC remains committed to self-supervision and self-governance by upholding reform and applying strict standards. The Party has focused on enhancing primary-level organizations and nurturing a team of Party members who adhere to high standards. This initiative aims to provide organizational support for building China into a robust nation and achieving national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
Data from the report showed that over 2.13 million people joined the CPC in 2024. Of these, 52.6 percent were from the production and work sectors, 54.4 percent held diplomas of junior college or above, and 83.7 percent were aged 35 or below. The composition of Party membership continued to see positive changes, with 57.79 million members, or 57.6 percent, holding junior college degrees or higher at the end of 2024, a 1.4 percentage point increase from the previous year.
By the end of 2024, the CPC had nearly 31 million female members, making up 30.9 percent of its total membership, marking a 0.5 percentage point increase from the previous year. The proportion of members from ethnic minority groups remained stable at 7.7 percent. Workers and farmers accounted for about 33 percent of all CPC members.
The education and management of Party members have continued to improve, with a 16.5 percent increase in the number of Party members receiving training in 2024 compared to the previous year. Efforts to strengthen primary-level Party organizations have also been made. By the end of 2024, there were 306,000 primary-level Party committees nationwide, an increase of 9,000 from 2023. The number of primary-level general Party branches rose to 330,000, and Party branches increased to about 4.61 million.
In 2024, village-level Party leadership was further enhanced, boosting efforts to drive rural revitalization across the country. At the end of 2024, there were nearly 485,000 secretaries of Party organizations in villages, with 47.6 percent holding junior college degrees or above.
