Windhoek: The City of Windhoek (CoW) on Friday announced an electricity tariff increase of 3.9 per cent for the 2025/2026 financial year, effective 01 August 2025.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the increment has been approved by the Electricity Control Board (ECB) in accordance with the Electricity Act, 2007 (Act No. 4 of 2007). The increase aims to ensure the continued provision of a secure, reliable, and high-quality electricity supply to residents, as stated by CoW.
In a statement issued on Friday, the municipality explained that the increase is necessary to maintain and upgrade infrastructure to meet the growing electricity demands of the capital.
The statement further highlighted that electricity remains an essential service and the tariff adjustment will support Windhoek’s social and economic development in a sustainable and caring manner.
