NAIROBI— Kenya has so far administered 114,007 Covid-19 vaccine booster doses since rolling out the administration of booster jabs in late December.
The health ministry listed AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines as the vaccines to be administered as boosters.
So far a total of 11,522,950 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, 6,308,695 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 5,063,545. Another 36,703 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 60.6% while the proportion of adults fully vaccinated stands at 18.6%.
The Ministry of Health gave the update Saturday when 300 new infections were reported from a sample size of 6,072 tested in the last 24 hours while three more people succumbed to the virus pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,531.
From the new infections, 274 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners. The youngest is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 100 years. Total confirmed positive cases are now 320,138 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,183,057.
The number of recoveries maintained an upward trend. Total recoveries now stand at 289,547 of whom 237,772 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 51,775 are from various health facilities countrywide.
A total of 814 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,801 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 46 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 44 of them on ventilatory support while two are on supplemental oxygen.
