County Government of Nyandarua to Expedite Water Projects in Ndaragwa

Nyandarua: The County Government of Nyandarua, under the leadership of Governor Kiarie Badilisha, has announced plans to accelerate the completion of water projects within Ndaragwa Constituency. The governor emphasized the importance of these projects in providing sustainable water supply for both domestic and irrigation purposes.

According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Badilisha highlighted the significance of the Leshau-Karaguini and Kirima water projects, noting their crucial role in ensuring adequate water availability for residents. He assured the community that the Leshau-Karaguini project, deemed a lifeline for many, will not experience delays, thanks to the acquisition of a transformer by the government. Furthermore, the governor committed to collaborating with the national government to facilitate the successful completion of these water projects.

Governor Badilisha also disclosed that President William Ruto has pledged Sh600 million for the Kirima water project. He promised to maintain continuous
engagement with the national government to ensure the release of funds necessary for the projects.

In addition to water projects, Governor Badilisha praised residents of the Kiriita area for their efforts in avocado farming. As a reward for their industriousness, he promised the establishment of an avocado factory. He urged farmers to transition from traditional and subsistence agriculture to modern and smart farming techniques to enhance their economic standing.

The county government is also focusing on diversifying agriculture by introducing new crops such as sugar beets and apples, which are expected to improve economic prospects for residents.

Nyandarua County Commissioner Abdilasaak Jaldesa commended the environmental conservation initiatives by Ndaragwa residents. He acknowledged their efforts in tree planting within the Aberdare forest and the preservation of the water tower, noting that water from Aberdare is being utilized to supply dry areas like Isiolo and Wajir.
