County Assembly Approves Revenue and Financial Reports

Nyeri – The County Assembly of Nyeri has given its approval to the annual and quarterly reports of the County Revenue Fund for the fiscal year ending 30th June 2022 and the quarter ending 30th September 2022. The financial statements, in line with sections 163, 164, and 165 of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, accurately represent the county’s financial standing.

According to Kenya News Agency, during a session at the Nyeri County Assembly, the Finance and Economic Planning Committee Chairperson and Mukurwe-ini West Ward MCA Atanasio Wakabaire moved the motion for the adoption of the reports. Wakabaire highlighted that the committee engaged with Finance and Economic Planning Department officers and scrutinized the financial statements thoroughly.

He stressed the importance of a strong internal control system within the Directorate of Revenue to prevent revenue losses. Additionally, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), led by Deputy Speaker and Ruring’u Ward MCA Hon. Samuel Kariuki, emphasized the need for the County Treasury to enhance the absorption of development expenditures and address underperformance in Source Revenue Collection. This measure is aimed at ensuring the full financing of the approved budget and timely completion of development projects.
