Cooperation, entrepreneurship and justice, on the front pages of Burkinabe newspapers

The Burkinabè dailies this Monday deal with military cooperation between Burkina Faso and Russia, tourist entrepreneurship and the judgment of fine coal.

‘Fine coal trial: Where have the keys to the seals gone? », asks the dean of Burkina Faso’s private dailies, L’Observateur Paalga, on his headline.

According to him, the court and the audience thought they would see gold bars at the hearing on October 6, 2023 at the High Court (TGI) Ouaga I, in the so-called ‘fine coal’ case.

The newspaper reports that the keys to the two large boxes, constituting the seals, could not be found, which forced the president of the court to postpone the hearing until Monday, October 9, 2023.

The private daily Le Pays recalls that the fine coal trial pits the Burkinabè state against the mining company IAMGOLD Essakane SA.

The colleague explains that the two experts, Moussa Gomina and Joël Ilboudo chosen by the State, answered questions from the various stakeholders in the trial on the canteens.

The state daily Sidwaya m
aintains that “the contents of the cargoes of ‘solid bodies’ (will) be revealed this Monday” at the TGI Ouaga I, noting that “fine coal is the subject of a so-called fraud case involving 12 people of Essakane SA, Bolloré and public administration’.

Under another chapter, the private daily L’Express du Faso, published in Bobo-Dioulasso, headlines its front page: ‘Night of the tourist entrepreneur: the best female tourist entrepreneur comes from Sya’.

The Bobolais daily informs that the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism honored tourism entrepreneurs on Friday October 6, 2023, by organizing, for the fifth time, ‘the night of the tourist entrepreneur’.

According to L’Express du Faso, this event saw the participation of 211 companies and was sponsored by the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Simon Pierre Boussim.

To this end, reports the newspaper, Koné /Drabo Kady from EASY TRAVEL SARL in Sikasso-cira de Bobo wins the prize for best female tourism entrepreneur.

The public daily Sidwa
ya specifies that the entrepreneur’s night had the theme: ‘Tourism, a factor of peace and social cohesion’.

He adds that the objective of this national prize is to stimulate, reward and highlight the dynamism, creativity, resilience and excellence of men and women working in the field of Burkinabè tourism.

Under another aspect, the daily Sidwaya headlines on its front page: ‘Cooperation: Russian and Burkinabe soldiers strengthen their partnership’, noting that a Russian delegation led by two deputy ministers of Defense of the Russian Federation, General-Colonel Younous-Bek Evkourov and Mr. Timur Vadimovich Ivanov, stayed last Thursday in the Burkinabe capital.

According to the national daily, these were working meetings and sharing of experiences between ministers on the one hand and between specific managers of the General Staffs of the Armies of the two countries on the other hand, with the objectives strengthening the skills and capabilities of the National Armed Forces.

rivate dailies L’Observateur Paalga adds that Colonel-Major Kassoum Coulibaly, Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, discussed with his hosts of the day the strategic questions of cooperation and the different possibilities offered by relations between the two countries in the logic of mutually advantageous cooperation.

Speaking of cooperation, the newspaper Le Quotidien mentions this between Niger and Burkina Faso, reporting that the Nigerien Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine was with his Burkinabè counterpart Me Kyélem in Tambila, last Saturday October 7.
