Construction of Sh32 Million Bridge at Naisoya/Ololoito Villages Begins

Narok: The National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) in Narok North Sub County has allocated Sh32 million for the construction of a new bridge to connect Naisoya and Ololoito villages. The initiative aims to address transportation challenges faced by the residents, particularly during the rainy seasons.

According to Kenya News Agency, Narok North MP Ms. Agnes Pareyio emphasized the importance of the project, citing public demand and the agricultural potential of the two villages. The bridge is expected to facilitate the transportation of local produce to markets, thereby enhancing the livelihoods of the residents. The construction will be overseen by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and is projected to be completed within six months.

In addition to the Naisoya/Ololoito bridge, the NG-CDF is also funding the construction of three other bridges in different locations to improve the movement of people and goods. Previously completed projects include the Erusiae-Olekaiki, Murua-Ereset, and Entiat-Songoro bridges, which have already improved market access for farmers in the area.

Furthermore, Ms. Pareyio announced that 2,400 secondary school students have benefitted from a Sh22 million bursary aimed at supporting needy and vulnerable students. Plans are underway to distribute bursaries to university and college students as well.

Ms. Pareyio acknowledged the logistical challenges posed by the size of her constituency, which is the largest in Narok County. Despite these challenges, she remains committed to developing the area and paving the way for more women to attain political leadership positions in the future.
