Construction of a nuclear power plant in Burkina: A memorandum will be signed Friday in Moscow

Burkina Faso and Russia will sign on Friday a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a nuclear power plant, desired by President Ibrahim Traoré in July, during an interview with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Rosatom, the Russian federal atomic energy agency, and the Ministry of Energy of Burkina Faso will sign a memorandum of understanding on Friday, October 13, 2023 in Moscow for the construction of a nuclear power plant, the AIB has learned from consistent sources.

This signing will take place on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week which takes place from October 11 to 13, 2023.

As a reminder, the Burkinabè head of state Ibrahim Traoré told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the end of July 2023 during the Russia-Africa summit of the importance for him of having, if possible, a power plant as quickly as possible. nuclear power in Burkina Faso, capable of covering the energy needs of the sub-region.
