On Thursday, the Opuwo Urban constituency office distributed various items amounting to N.dollars 100 000 to 14 Opuwo Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and sports teams.

The contributions form part of the constituency office’s social responsibility and will support an initiative led by the councillor aimed at improving residents’ living conditions, creating employment opportunities, promoting sports, and ensuring equality and fair treatment for people with disabilities.

Sports attire for soccer and netball, along with netball balls, were presented to four Opuwo Third Division League teams: Epupa Zebra Stars, Opuwo Golden Wolves, Opuwo Young Rangers, and Opuwo United. Seven Kapana vendors each received 10 kilograms of three bags of baking flour and one bag of sugar, along with a five-litre jug of cooking oil. Five welding operators were also provided with tools. A butcher received a meat-cutting machine, while individuals living with disabilities received various food products and essential items.

During the ceremonial handover, which took place at the constituency councillor’s chambers, Ngunaihe encouraged the beneficiaries to appreciate the items they had received and to use them for their intended purposes, as follow-up monitoring will occur every month.

Ngunaihe stated that these contributions are aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of the inhabitants, thereby creating job opportunities and supporting the most disadvantaged members of society.

One of the recipients, Virimetundu Katundu, expressed her gratitude, stating that the donations came at a time of great need and emphasised the importance of individuals helping those who are unable to help themselves.
