Lubango: Experts participating in the first National Conference on Information and Communication Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Education (CNTIC-IA) in Huíla Province recommended investing in advanced training for academics in these tools to better prepare them for the digital market. According to Angola Press News Agency, the two-day event was organized by the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED) in Lubango under the motto "Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in Education: From Knowledge to Innovation". Participants emphasized the importance of promoting scientific research in educational technology, artificial intelligence, and education to keep pace with current developments. The conference concluded with recommendations for advanced training in ICT and AI aimed at developing complex problem-solving skills, fostering student autonomy, promoting scientific research, and ensuring professional competitiveness. The event also encouraged responsible and inclusive AI ethi cs in educational institutions and called for strengthened collaboration among universities, research centers, the business sector, and public bodies. Additionally, the conference advocated for enhanced cooperation with Lusófona University to implement an academic mobility program under the European Union (EU) education project 'Erasmus Plus' for the AI master's degree course. It also emphasized promoting a culture of innovation, technological entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer. Speakers noted that the event showcased Angola's active scientific community, capable of generating knowledge, developing innovative solutions, and fostering collaborative research focused on the challenges of digital transformation in education and society. The organizing committee announced that the conference will become an annual event, with the second edition scheduled for June 2027. The aim is to create a permanent forum for debate, research, innovation, and scientific cooperation, enhancing the conference's scientific quality and international reach, and strengthening ties between academia, government, the business sector, and society. The inaugural edition brought together over 80 participants, including faculty members, researchers, students, and professionals from public and private institutions, as well as national and international experts. Discussions covered topics such as "The Impact of AI on Higher Education", "The Role of ICT and AI in Angola's Development", and "Women in Technology, Science and AI". Other subjects addressed included Digital Literacy, Scientific Research in the AI Era, Digital University and Smart Campus, and Reimagining Assessment in the AI Era: Challenges, Risks, and Opportunities.
