Conditions Set for 10,000 Attendees at National Independence Celebration


Luanda: The Republic Square is prepared to receive 10,000 people on Tuesday, for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, 2,000 more than initially planned. The Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Ado de Almeida, announced on Monday, adding that the demand required expanding to include 2,000 more participants, including representatives of civil society, defense and security forces, and members of different sectors of national life. The minister emphasized that all provinces will be represented by groups of people.



According to Angola Press News Agency, Ado de Almeida confirmed the presence of 45 foreign delegations, represented by heads of state, vice-presidents, prime ministers, presidents of parliaments, and ministers of foreign affairs, in a demonstration of international recognition of Angola’s trajectory since independence was achieved on November 11, 1975. Speaking about the program, he recalled that the ceremony includes several symbolic moments, among them the posthumous awarding of the Medal of Honor to President Agostinho Neto, in homage to the proclaimer of independence and first President of the Republic.



This will be followed by a message to the nation by President Joo Louren§o, which will mark the high point of the commemorations. Almeida said the program also includes a civic parade with approximately 6,000 civilian participants, and another military parade, with 4,000 members of the Angolan Armed Forces and the National Police, culminating in a cultural show and the presentation of the official song for the 50th anniversary of Independence.



Ado de Almeida highlighted that all logistical conditions for security and medical assistance are guaranteed. ‘We have medical teams prepared on site and evacuation plans for hospital units, should it be necessary. Security and mobility are also duly safeguarded,’ the minister said. ‘After more than two months of preparation, we can say with confidence that everything is ready. Tomorrow will be a day of celebration worthy of the greatness of our country and the history of our people,’ the Minister of State reassured.
