Condiment Seller and Her Son Fatally Struck by Dump Truck in Gourcy Market Square

Gourcy—A condiment seller and her son were killed by a dump truck on Monday around 3 pm in the market square situated between the credit union and the great mosque of Gourcy.

According to Burkina Informational Agency, the driver of the dump truck swerved to avoid another woman who was struggling to control her visibly overloaded motorcycle. In doing so, he struck the condiment seller and her son. The woman was killed instantly, while her son sustained injuries.

Opinions at the scene of the accident were divided. Some suggested that the truck’s failure, possibly a lack of brakes, was to blame. Others highlighted that vendor displays encroaching on the public highway could have contributed to the incident.

According to a health worker at the hospital, the child later succumbed to his injuries.
