Nairobi County Promotes Inclusivity and Engagement in Governance

Nairobi: In an effort to foster a more inclusive and participatory approach in local governance, the Nairobi County Government hosted a roundtable meeting today, focusing on Inclusivity, Public Participation, and Customer Service. The event aimed to align the Governor’s vision of transforming Nairobi into a city characterized by order, dignity, hope, and opportunities.

According to Kenya News Agency, Nairobi City County Executive Committee Member for Inclusivity, Public Participation, and Customer Service, the roundtable included diverse partners from Civil Society, Non-Governmental Organisations, and groups representing People with Disabilities. Dr. Nyalita emphasized the significance of Gender and Inclusivity, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Citizen Engagement, Customer Service, and Information Technology in delivering quality service to Nairobi residents.

Dr. Nyalita pointed out the importance of formal engagement with partners to ensure alignment with the county’s integrated management plans, avoiding parallel programs and duplication of work. She revealed the county government’s plan to hold quarterly meetings to update stakeholders on the county’s progress.

Regarding public participation and citizen engagement, Dr. Nyalita stated that the county government is responsible for facilitating public participation, ensuring citizen access to information, and promoting research and innovation in e-government services. She also highlighted the county’s initiatives to enhance its digital governance capabilities.

In the area of culture, arts, and tourism, Dr. Nyalita announced upcoming events such as the ‘Vibe of the City’ and the Nairobi festival, scheduled for December 12th to 17th. These events are part of the county’s efforts to promote unity and cultural activities, furthering the enrichment of Nairobi’s diverse community.
