Banfora: The final of the first edition of the inter-school tournament organized by the Association of Youth for Cultural Renewal of Cascades (AJRCC), known as the ‘Inter-school Tournament,’ was played on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the esplanade of the Banfora stadium. Under the patronage of the Minister of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training and the presidency of former Regional Director of Sports and Leisure of Cascades, Moussa Diabat©, Lyc©e Municipal Jacques Toulat (LMJTB) of Banfora faced off against Etablissement Louis Querbes (ELOQ) of Banfora. LMJTB emerged victorious with a 4-0 scoreline.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament, officially launched on March 1, 2025, concluded on April 13, 2025, in Banfora. The initial goal was scored by Moustapha Sagnon in the 7th minute, giving LMJTB an early lead. Kassoum Bationo followed with two more goals, extending the lead to 3-0 by halftime.
In the second half, LMJTB maintained their dominance, with Bationo completing his hat-trick in the 27th minute, sealing the 4-0 victory. The triumph awarded LMJTB the tournament trophy, a set of jerseys, a ball, and 75,000 FCFA. ELOQ, despite their defeat, received a ball and 50,000 FCFA. Lyc©e Provincial Lompolo Kon© (LPLK), finishing third, took home a ball and 25,000 FCFA.
Seventeen teams from various schools participated in this competition.
At the conclusion of the game, Serge Coulibaly, President of ARJCC, praised the fair play spirit of the tournament and announced plans for a second edition in 2026. He expressed gratitude to the participating teams, the Minister of Secondary Education, and regional authorities for their support and attendance.
