Community Greening: Latifa Sana Leads Birthday Tree Planting Initiative in Tenkodogo

TENKODOGO - In a unique celebration of her birthday, Latifa Sana, along with her friends, planted 120 fruit trees in the municipal police courtyard of Tenkodogo this Saturday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place on the morning of August 3, 2024, and included the planting of 100 trees by Latifa and her group, while an additional 20 trees, gifted by her friends as a birthday present, were also planted. This initiative aligns with President Ibrahim Traoré’s national campaign encouraging Burkinabè citizens to plant trees during celebratory events. Latifa expressed her hope that this gesture would inspire her peers to participate in similar environmental activities.

Prominent local figures such as Adaman Kambone, mission manager of the President of Faso for the Center-East region, and Dimasbila Tapsoba, head of the departmental environment service, praised Latifa’s efforts. They highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting environmental sustainability and encouraged other young people in the region to follow her example. The event's godmother, Awa Bilgo/Ly, also commended the activity and urged the youth to focus on planting native species during the rainy season.

Latifa and her friends have vowed to continue this tradition every August 3, supporting local authorities in their efforts to restore and enhance the area's plant cover.
