DANO, IOBA — Residents of Dano have come together for the fourth consecutive Saturday to clean the town’s gutters, an initiative led by Denis Zanré, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Dano, to combat potential flooding. This community effort began on July 13, 2024, and has seen significant participation from the local populace.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this sanitation campaign is a part of a broader presidential initiative for community development and has witnessed strong support from local authorities and economic operators. The High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Bernadette Adenyo née Sermé, also played an active role, emphasizing that these clean-ups are critical preventive measures against the anticipated heavy rains. The operation extends beyond Dano, with similar initiatives planned across other municipalities in Ioba to align with the emergency organization plan (ORSEC) for the province. Adenyo urged residents in flood-prone areas to take proactive steps to mitigate risks to property and life. This community-driven campaign also aims to educate residents on proper waste disposal to maintain the cleanliness of the gutters.
