Léo: The commune of Léo recognized its top-performing students and teachers in a distinguished ceremony on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The event was presided over by Kassoum Koalaga, president of the special delegation of the commune, and sponsored by Ivonne Thiombiano/Nignan.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Culture of excellence in primary school: a factor of resilience in a context of insecurity.’ The ceremony, held in Léo, Sissili province, Center-West region, saw the attendance of the secretary general of Sissili, Baowindsida Bingo, along with customary chiefs and numerous guests. This event underscores the commitment of municipal authorities to enhance the educational sector.
Abdramane Nignan, Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Léo, highlighted the commendable achievement of the CEB of Léo, which secured 2nd place in the province of Sissili with a Primary Education Certificate (CEP) success rate of 82.17% for the 2023-2024 school year. To
celebrate this success, a day of academic excellence was organized, where winners in various categories were rewarded with prizes such as bicycles, school kits, leather bags, tablets, and a printer, generously provided by the event’s godmother, Ivonne Thiombiano/Nignan.
Mr. Nignan also took the opportunity to present several requests on behalf of the educational community, including the construction of new schools and classrooms to alleviate overcrowding, and the provision of necessary equipment and resources for the CEB. He expressed gratitude towards Kassoum Koalaga, Ivonne Thiombiano/Nignan, and the provincial authorities for their unwavering support. Ivonne Thiombiano/Nignan expressed her joy and gratitude for being associated with the event and encouraged the students to remain exemplary and uphold values of respect, solidarity, and peace.
