Combating speculation at centre of Saïed-Charfeddine meeting

The fight against monopolistic and speculative practices and the means to face whoever tries to starve the people, were at the centre of a meeting, Monday, at Carthage Palace, between the President of the Republic, Kais Saïed and Minister of Interior Taoufik Charfeddine and Director General of the National Security, Mourad Saïdane.

Quoted in a statement from the presidency, Saïed said “it is paradoxical that goods are piled up by the thousands of tonnes in warehouses while the state strives to import them from abroad for exorbitant sums.”

“Many ships loaded with goods remain at sea for long periods of time, extending over several weeks. The people obtain these goods only to be doubly punished. They pay the price of these products but also and above all the heavy price of the practices of speculators,” the Head of State deplored.
